Drivers in AJ Perez accident file suit vs each other

The drivers of the van and bus that were involved in the accident that claimed the life of teen actor AJ Perez had filed similar suits against each other. Christopher Bautista, driver of the ABS-CBN van, and Partas Bus driver Julie Brillantes charged each other with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property in connection with the accident. Bautista has already posted bail while Brillantes was expected to do the same, according to reporter Julius Segovia in his report in GMA News’ Balitanghali on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a 30-day preventive suspension on the Partas bus that figured in the accident that occurred Sunday in Moncada town in Tarlac. Partas’ 47 other buses are not covered by the suspension for the meantime, according to LTFRB chairman Nelson Laluces, noting that they do not want to burden north-bound passengers by reducing the number of buses in service during the Holy Week. Laluces, however, said other Partas buses will be covered by the preventive suspension order after the Holy Week. LTFRB was likewise demanding an explanation from Partas management regarding the incident. They also required all the drivers of the bus firm to undergo proper driving seminar and drug testing. - Suzette Dalumpines/KBK, GMA News
