PHL Embassy in UK holds outreach mission in Wales

The Philippine Embassy in London held another consular outreach mission at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Headquarters in Cardiff, Wales this month. It was the second time this year that the Embassy provided electronic passport mobile services in areas outside of London, and a third is being planned for May. "Members of the Filipino community present expressed appreciation for the holding of an outreach mission in Wales because of its distance from London," the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a news release Tuesday night. The outreach mission was conducted with the help of Wales-based Filipina nurse Katherine Cabasan-Rose, and local Filipino community leaders. For the first time, the Embassy held an Outreach Mission at the Royal College of Nursing in Wales with the support of Tina Donnelly, Director of the Royal College of Nursing - the premier organization representing nurses and the nursing profession in the United Kingdom. Leading the mission were Consul General Theresa de Vega and a team from the Embassy, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-United Kingdom (POLO-UK), Social Security System (SSS), and PAG-IBIG Fund. They provided consular, Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration, Pag-IBIG, and Social Security System services. Applicants likewise availed of the opportunity to apply for citizenship reacquisition and retention. The Philippine Embassy team also provided legal advice and guidance on employment and immigration concerns for interested members of the public. The Embassy's next outreach mission is scheduled on May 14 and 15 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which is home to over 7,000 Filipino nationals. – VVP, GMA News
