YouTube to live stream royal wedding

Even Google has caught the Royal Wedding fever, as its video sharing site YouTube is set to stream the wedding of Britain's Prince William and Catherine Middleton live on April 29. Google said that YouTube will start the live stream at 0900 GMT (5pm in Manila), while the Royal Household will stream it on their official YouTube channel as well. "More than 50 years ago, the marriage of The Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret, and Antony Armstrong-Jones was the first royal wedding to be broadcast on television and had over 20 million viewers. This one is already heralded as the first of the Internet age, where for the first time in thousands of years of royal history, the moment will be captured online and preserved forever," it said in a blog post. Live stream starts 5pm Philippine time The YouTube live stream will begin at 10 a.m. BST (5pm in the Philippines) on Friday, April 29, and will follow the wedding procession, marriage ceremony at Westminster Abbey, and the traditional balcony kiss. Alongside the live stream, The Royal Channel (www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel) —"the Official (YouTube) Channel of the British Monarchy"— will also feature live blog commentary on the event, with updates and insights as the day unfolds. "For those of you in different time zones, the footage will be reshown in its entirety directly following the event and will be available in full on the site to view afterwards," Google said. 3D 'Royal view' Also, Google said that it has expanded its Google Earth 3D imagery to offer a “Royals’-eye" view of the entire wedding procession. It will come "complete with 3D images of iconic landmarks and five species of digital trees that can be seen along the route," Google said. "With this new 3D data covering the royal procession route, you can indulge yourself in a “royals’-eye" view to see the same sights that William and Catherine will see. Upon departing Westminster Abbey, you’ll pass the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the famous ministries on Whitehall and the Prime Minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street. Traverse Horse Guards Parade, and from there, you can travel down The Mall—with 3D trees lining the route—and see Buckingham Palace standing proudly at the finish," it www.royalweddingcharityfund.org). With eight days to go before the wedding, The Royal Channel had over 39,000 subscribers and almost 11 million views for all its uploads as of Wednesday afternoon. — TJD, GMA News
