Search continues for 22 missing in Mindanao landslide

Amid threats of more rains and possible landslides, search operations continue for at least 22 miners missing after a predawn landslide that killed at least three miners in Compostela Valley in Mindanao early Friday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned Saturday of more rains that may trigger flash floods and landslides over eastern Visayas and Mindanao. “Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. bulletin Saturday. PAGASA said this was due to the tail-end of a cold front affecting the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao. It added light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the Northeast to Northwest over the rest of the country. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it said. For its part, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) identified at least 22 still missing, in its 7 a.m. Saturday update. It also identified two more injured miners - Jonathan Bilan (Pantukan) and Joel Lapates (Bukidnon). The NDRRMC identified the 22 missing as:
