Suspected kidnapper nabbed in Cotabato

A wanted kidnapping suspect in Mindanao has been arrested by government authorities in Cotabato City, a belated report from the Philippine National Police (PNP)said on Saturday. PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr identified the arrested man as Abdulmanan Mabang alias "Commander Keneg." He was arrested at Salamat Street at Barangay Poblacion in Cotabato City at about 12:20 p.m. of Friday. Mabang was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest in connection with several charges he is facing, including attempted kidnapping; kidnapping with ransom and serious illegal detention; kidnapping with robbery; and other cases. Recovered from the suspect was a fragmentation grenade, Cruz said. Mabang was arrested by joint elements from the Cotabato City Police, the Western Mindanao Regional Police, and the Philippine Navy's Marine Battalion Landing Team-7. The suspect is currently in the custody of the Cotabato CIty police, Cruz added. - TJD, GMA News
