DFA chief meets 6 Pinoys rescued by PHL Embassy in Libya

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert del Rosario has met with the five Filipino nurses and one Filipino engineer rescued by the Philippine Embassy reaction team in Tripoli, Libya. The six Filipinos were trapped in Misurata for 23 days amid the battle between the government and pro-democracy forces. They were rescued by the Philippine Embassy reaction team in Zitlin, the town closest to Misurata, and brought to Tripoli. Those rescued will join 28 other Filipinos, which include nine nurses recently brought out of Tripoli through the Tunisian border. A total of 34 more Filipinos will fly out of Djerba on April 25. Del Rosario, on orders of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, proceeded to Tripoli and Misurata to bring out Filipino workers there who wish to go home to the Philippines. The DFA said it will continue to help Filipinos wanting to go out of Libya, and ensure their safety and welfare. - VVP, GMA News
