Romblon town mayor, 2 aides hurt in ambush

The mayor of Cajidiocan town in Romblon province and his two aides were wounded in an ambush Monday afternoon, a police report said. Mayor Festo Riano Galang Jr. was on his way home with his two aides on board his vehicle when the suspects fired at them at around 5 p.m., the report said. The victim’s vehicle was then traversing the National Road near the cemetery of Barangay Cambahao. Galang and his driver Jorge Rabimo sustained gunshot wounds on their left arms while PO1 Erick Espartinez, Galang’s security aide, was hit on his left and right shoulders. The three were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where they are now in stable condition. Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of M16 assault rifle and a bonnet. - KBK, GMA News
