NAIA-2 police catch salisi gang victimizing Japanese tourist

Airport Police on Tuesday arrested three supposed members of the notorious salisi gang in the act of victimizing a Japanese tourist at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 (NAIA-2). The tourist, identified as Kazuo Nakazawa, had just arrived from Narita, Japan onboard Philippine Airlines flight PR431 at 1 p.m. when the suspects approached him, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) spokesperson Connie Bungag told reporters. The 53-year old Japanese was at the arrival curbside of the NAIA Terminal 2 when one of the suspects talked to him while the other suspect snatched his black bag on top of the baggage cart. Airport Police Corporals Ronald Lardizabal and Michael Teofilo were on patrol duty at that time, when they noticed the suspects pulling a number on Nakazawa. The police officers immediately apprehended the suspects — later identified as Hervan Sican, 42, and Samuel Lazagay, 26, both from San Pedro, Laguna. A third suspect, Romero Parabuac, who acted as the lookout, was also arrested, according to the MIAA. Lardizabal and Teofilo brought the suspects to the Police Intelligence Investigation Division headquarters where Nakazawa’s cash and personal effects amounting to 1 million yen were recovered, the MIAA reported. — VS, GMA News
