Apple iPad 2 to hit PHL stores Friday

The Apple iPad 2 and its original accessories will be officially available in the Philippines starting April 29. Apple products retailer Power Mac Center (PMC) said on Thursday that the popular tablet computer will be available at PMC Apple Premium Reseller stores in five malls in Metro Manila. All stores will open at 10 a.m. on the launch date at Greenbelt 3, SM Mall of Asia (MOA), SM Megamall, The Annex at SM City North EDSA and TriNoma. The iPad 2 was first released in the United States on March 11. It was then made available outside the US beginning March 25, with Japan, Australia and New Zealand being the first countries in Asia to officially have the iPad sold by authorized retailers within their borders. “With more than 15 million iPads sold, iPad has defined an entirely new category of mobile devices," Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO said when the iPad2 was first revealed in San Francisco, USA on March 2. “While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again," he added. PMC offers with this launch a three-day 10 percent off sale on all iPad 2 accessories, including the iPad 2 Smart Cover which magnetically attaches on the face of the tablet computer. As an exclusive offer from PMC, an iPad 2 purchase in any of these stores entitles customers to a free 30-day coverage for accidental damage under the Save Mac program. This allows for a replacement of the iPad 2 in cases of sudden and unforeseen physical damage during coverage period. The iPad 2 is available in Black or White, WiFi-only and 3G+WiFi models, with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities. – CMA/MRT/VS, GMA News
