PAGASA: Expect rains on Labor Day

Aside from their biodata and other documents, prospective jobseekers may want to bring umbrellas when they go to job fairs on Labor Day this Sunday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday said isolated rains and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Luzon. "We can expect cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms in parts of Central and Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. Rains had fallen on parts of Metro Manila before dawn Saturday, providing some relief for residents after days of hot weather. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said an easterly wave is affecting Eastern Visayas and Mindanao. "The eastern section of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," it said. Light to moderate winds blowing from east to southeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of the country. It added the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. — JE, GMA News
