Samar mayor shot dead while attending fiesta program

A city mayor of Samar province was shot dead while attending a town fiesta in the province Saturday night, police said Sunday. Calbayog City Mayor Reynaldo Uy was shot at 9:30 p.m. while attending the Hinabangan town fiesta activities, Inspector Sereno Apitin said. "Yung kaso under investigation, hindi namin matukoy ang suspect. Bago mag umpisa ang sayawan may dasal at invocation, doon binaril ang mayor," Apitin said in an interview on dzBB radio. Citing sketchy initial reports, he said a vehicle pulled up near the venue of the fiesta program. "Di inaasahan may darating na sasakyan, di alam saan galing, ayon sa aming imbestigasyon," he said.
