Report: Filipino hunted for rob try, shooting in Malaysia

Malaysian authorities are tracking down a Filipino who allegedly tried to rob a jewelry store in the Inanam area in Kota Kinabalu and shot a driver who refused to help him escape. According to Malaysia's Star newspaper, Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the police believe a certain "Kadar," who is in his 30s, may still be in the state capital. The report said the injured van driver is fighting for his life in a hospital. The investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 8:50 a.m. on Saturday at a goldsmith’s shop in Inanam. Kadar reportedly walked into the jewelry shop and asked to look at some of the necklaces on display. However, the shop owner became worried when Kadar started "acting suspiciously." When Kadar reached into his pocket, the shop owner pulled out a pepper spray and pointed it at the suspect's face. Yelling in pain after being sprayed, the suspect allegedly grabbed a few pieces of jewelry before fleeing. The suspect then allegedly ran toward a van and ordered the driver to speed up. When the driver refused, the suspect reportedly pulled out a pistol and shot him in the stomach. The police are still hunting down Kabar who reportedly fled on foot toward some nearby bushes. - VVP, GMA News
