2 killed, 5 hurt in Zambo Sibugay road accident

Two passengers were killed while five others were hurt following a road accident in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay over the weekend, the chief of the National Police's Highway Patrol Group said Monday. In a text message to reporters, Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said the incident occurred 7 p.m. Sunday when a rural passenger bus [LWD 927] bound for Zamboanga City accidentally bumped into the road grill along the National Highway in Barangay Silingan in Roseller Lim town. Espina identified the driver of the ill-fated bus as one Vergel Reyes. An initial investigation said Reyes failed to properly maneuver the vehicle while negotiating a curve, causing the bus to overturn. Police are still investigating the incident, Espina said. — Suzette Dalumpines/RSJ, GMA News
