Playing Angry Birds using mind control

With a neuro-headset and an emulator, a pair of hackers has brought the popular computer game "Angry Birds" to the next level: blasting away fictional pigs via mind control. Rafael Mizrahi and Anat Sambol used an Emotive EPOC headset in replace of the mouse and keyboard in playing "Angry Birds" on a netbook. On their project website, the two explained how they used the headset to move the cursor around with their thoughts, and the GlovePIE application in lieu of a mouse. The two took to GlovePIE after learning that the neuro-headset did not support left-button mouse clicks. GlovePIE is a free Programmable input emulator that supports a range of input devices, especially the Nintendo Wii Remote (Wiimote), according to its website. "GlovePIE is used to map gestures, button presses, and other actions to keyboard keys, mouse input, or joystick buttons and axes," it says on the GlovePIE product page. But GlovePIE programmer Carl Kenner warned that the setup is far from cheap: the SDK version of the headset costs $500, and the consumer version worth $299 works only with authorized software. — TJD, GMA News
