Pinoys told to wear yellow on Sunday for unity behind Pacquiao

Malacañang on Saturday encouraged Filipinos to wear yellow on Sunday as a show of support and unity for Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny" Pacquiao when he faces Sugar Shane Mosley for the world welterweight title. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte also reassured the public that state security forces will remain on alert to thwart criminals and terrorists from exploiting Sunday’s "Pacman fever." “Lahat [sana] ay magdilaw bukas to show support and unity," she said on government-run dzRB radio. Pacquiao said earlier he will wear yellow gloves during the bout on Sunday (Manila time), where he will face Mosley in Las Vegas. The fight was a go early Saturday (Manila time) after both fighters made the welterweight class weight limit. Pacquiao weighed in at 145 pounds, and Mosley at 147 pounds. But Valte said security forces will remain on alert amid Filipinos’ expectations of zero crime during Pacquiao’s bouts. “Mukhang marami na tayong kababayang naghanda sa kanyang laban against Mosley, maraming nagplano saan sila manonood ng fight," she said. — LBG, GMA News
