Latest round of oil price rollback hits the pumps


At least five oil companies on Sunday rolled back prices of their kerosene, diesel, and gasoline products.

In a text message to GMA News, Chevron spokesperson Tony Nebrida said the company slashed at 12:01 a.m. Sunday the price of diesel by P1.75 per liter and kerosene by P2 per liter.

For regular gasoline, Chevron implemented a price rollback of P1.25 per liter. The company also slashed by P0.50 per liter the prices of its gasoline products Gold, Gold E10, Silver, and Silver E10.

Last Saturday night, GMA News correspondent Julius Segovia also reported that major player Shell Philippines was to implement a price cut by Sunday.

In a later Twitter message, Segovia said Shell slashed (at 12:01 a.m. Sunday) the price of diesel by P1.75 per liter, and kerosene by P2 per liter. The company also implemented a rollback of P0.50 per liter on the price of unleaded gasoline, and P1.25 on regular gasoline.

At 6 a.m. Sunday, Petron likewise slashed the price of its premium gasoline by P0.50 per liter, and of its regular and Pinoy gasoline by P1.25. The company also implemented a P1.75-per-liter rollback on the price of diesel, and P2/L on the price of kerosene.

Other oil players

Aside from the three major oil players, at least two other firms are implementing a rollback on the prices of fuel products.

Effective Sunday, Unioil is implementing a P1.75- and P2-per-liter rollback on the prices of its diesel and kerosene products, respectively. It is also slashing prices of its unleaded and premium gasoline by P0.50 per liter, and its regular gasoline price by P1.25/L.

On the same day, Seaoil is rolling back the price of diesel by P1.75 per liter, kerosene by P2 per liter, premium and unleaded gasoline by P0.50 per liter, and regular gasoline by P1.25 per liter.

The oil companies implemented the price adjustments less than a week after the Energy Department started handing out fuel subsidy cards to give some relief to the transport sector amid rising prices of fuel. — LBG, GMA News
