UK issues advisory on 'Bebeng' to citizens in PHL

The destruction caused by tropical storm "Bebeng" (international name: Aere) has prompted the United Kingdom to remind its citizens in the Philippines to take extra precautions. In an update to its travel advice, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) noted Philippine officials had also advised precautions against floods and landslides. "Officials in the Philippines are advising those in the area to take precautions against possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy rain. Those in coastal areas are at risk of big waves and local flooding due to storm surges," it said. The FCO also noted "Bebeng" caused delays and cancellations to domestic and international flights, and power cuts. vThe FCO noted that some 90,000 British tourists visit the Philippines every year, citing information from the Department of Tourism. At least 15 people had been reported killed and two missing since "Bebeng" devastated parts of Eastern Visayas, Bicol, and Southern Luzon. - VVP, GMA News
