DFA warns Pinoys vs illegal recruiters for Macau jobs

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has warned overseas Filipino workers against illegal recruiters pretending to represent a new hotel in Macau. According to the DFA statement, the Galaxy Entertainment Group, the operator of a large, new hotel in Macau, wrote to the Philippine Consulate to report cases of fraud involving the "recruitment of workers by individuals claiming to be appointed agents of the entertainment group." Galaxy reported that some illegal recruiters, using their company's name, entice OFWs with a promise of a good job in the hotel. However, Galaxy said their only authorized agent in the Philippines is IKON Solutions Asia, Inc. The company said that applications made with recruiters other than IKON Solutions are not authorized. The DFA is encouraging the public to verify job offers with Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The Consulate also advised Filipinos seeking job opportunities abroad to get professional advice from authorized agencies to avoid becoming victims of illegal recruiters. - VVP, GMA News
