Ex-NAIA chief shot dead by wife in US — reports

The head of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport during the Estrada administration was shot dead by his own wife who reportedly went on a shooting rampage last Mother’s Day inside their Los Angeles home. Annamaria Magno Gana, 41, has already been charged with murder and attempted murder for the killing of Antonio Gana, 72, and for shooting their 16-year-old son, according to a report on United Press International. The report quoted investigators as saying that Annamaria’s nine-year-old son ended the incident by wrestling the gun away from her and running outside with it. It said Gana and their teenage son were shot after they rushed to the bedroom where Annamaria had reportedly shot the ceiling. The boy was wounded in the arm and was able to call 911 for help. The family was living in Tustin Ranch, south of Los Angeles, California. Reports said Annamaria was diagnosed with breast cancer. The charges against her were filed with the Orange County District Attorney's office. If convicted, she will face 82-years to life imprisonment. A $1 million bail was set for her temporary liberty, according to a report on Journal Online. - KBK, GMA News
