NCRPO orders manhunt for cops in scavenger's shooting

Now that charges have been filed against them, three policemen linked to the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old scavenger in Makati City last Monday face an intensified manhunt from Metro Manila police. Metro Manila police director Chief Superintendent Allan Purisima said he is not satisfied with the present pace of the manhunt, radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported Thursday. Purisima particularly ordered the Southern Police District to intensify the hunt for Chief Inspector Angelo Germinal, Makati Police Precinct 5 commander; Police Officer 3 Robert Riñon; and PO1 Nicolas Apostol Jr. The three have yet to report for work since the incident.

On Wednesday, the three were charged with murder for the fatal shooting of Christian Serrano, 13. Investigation showed the three were on patrol Monday afternoon when they saw Serrano scavenging for metal scraps in an abandoned building at the corner of Kamagong and Bagtikan Streets in Makati City. Germinal allegedly fired warning shots but one of them may have hit the boy. — RSJ, GMA News
