PAGASA: Rains in NCR not due to cyclone

The rains that fell on parts of Metro Manila late Wednesday were not due to a cyclone but were isolated rainshowers, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the weather disturbance in the country was still a shallow low-pressure area threatening parts of Visayas and Mindanao. "Northern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms. Visayas and Mindanao will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods," it said. As for the rest of Luzon, PAGASA said it will have "partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening." PAGASA said that as of 2 p.m., the SLPA was estimated at 340 km east of General Santos City, embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that was affecting Visayas and Mindanao. It also said a cold front is affecting extreme northern Luzon. Meanwhile, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the East to Northeast over the rest of the country. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. — KBK, GMA News
