Driver of bus that killed Chit Estella attends driving seminar

The driver of the passenger bus that killed journalist-professor Chit Estella-Simbulan took part in a driving seminar Saturday. Daniel Espinosa was among the Universal Guiding Star bus drivers who joined Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s driving seminar, according to a report on GMA News TV’s “Balitanghali." Meanwhile, a separate report on dwIZ radio said Espinosa got a temporary room at the Quezon City Police District headquarter in Camp Karingal. QCPD head Chief Superintendent George Regis said Espinosa is not a detainee but a “guest" there. Last May 13, a passenger bus driven by Espinosa severely hit the taxi that was carrying Simbulan along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. Espinosa fled the scene after the accident and went to Davao City. Espinosa turned himself in to Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte before midnight Thursday and was brought to Metro Manila before dawn Saturday. The bus driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. — JE, GMA News
