2 killed, 32 hurt as bus falls off bridge in Quirino


(Updated 3:37 p.m.) CABARROGUIS, Quirino — Two people were killed while 32 others were injured after a passenger bus they were riding fell off a bridge in Quirino province in northern Philippines Sunday night. The incident occurred at Sangbay village in Nagtipunan town past 11 p.m. according to Police Senior Inspector Andree Camhol, public information officer of the Quirino police. Killed on the spot were Evangeline Salac, 53, and Jesus Cabaldo, 20. Both sustained head and body injuries as they were pinned inside the bus. Initial investigation showed the bus, operated by Northeast Luzon Bus Company and with plate number BVN-260, was on its way to Santiago City in Isabela from Dilasag town in Aurora when its driver, Robert Baga, lost control over the steering wheel. The bus was then carrying 36 people, including the driver and his assistant, Ronald Dionicio. Both Baga and Dionicio left the scene of the accident and are now the subject of a manhunt operation by the police. Still confined at the Maddela District Hospital in Diduyon, Maddela, Quirino due to various fractures and wounds were: - Jessica Agsipu, 13, - Grace Agsipu, 31, - Jayson Agsipu, 11 - Jessa Esteban, 8 - Jessie Chavez, 8 - Aida Lamintan, 62 - Leonora Esteban, 73 - Vilma Chavez, 63 - Roshelle Pincag, 49 - Manuel Roxas, 54 - Alice Hoggang, 47 - Julie Cabaldo, 21 - Jay-ann Carlo Delos Reyes, 18 - Rovelyn Salas, 15 - Zaira Jane Hoggang, 10 - Norberto Cayme, 65 - Llera Benedicto, 54 - Evalyn Salas, 15 - Marilyn Baccay - Devine Grace Dela Peña, 23, and - Lyn Esteban, 37 Others went home after treatment, Camhol said. — with Joel Nueva/RSJ/KBK, GMA News
