Suspected robber killed in Manila shootout

One of two suspected robbers was shot dead in an encounter with police near the Metropolitan Theater in Manila before dawn Tuesday. The incident occurred along Arroceros Street near Metropolitan Theater and the Quezon Bridge that leads to the Quiapo district, radio dzBB reported. PO2 Luisito Gutierrez of the Manila Police District Station 5's Anti-Crime unit said they heard someone shout "Holdup!" near the theater area. When they went to investigate, the suspects allegedly fired at them, prompting them to fire back. The report said the fatality, who was not immediately identified, was wearing a white shirt and khaki pants, and had a cal-.38 revolver.
