Pinoys in Bahrain advised of 'partial' curfew lifting

Filipinos in Bahrain were informed Tuesday that partial curfew has been lifted as political tension and security situation in the Middle Eastern country continue to ease. Filipinos were told that an overnight curfew at the junction between Seef flyover and Bahrain Financial Harbour traffic lights was lifted last Monday, according to the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain. “In a sign of improved security, the general command of the Bahrain Defense Forces [Monday] announced the move in its 14th statement," Philippine Consul General Sahid Glang said in an advisory. Still, Glang cited a broadcast on Bahrain TV that the sea curfew would remain unchanged “until further notice." Earlier this month, the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain advised Filipinos there to remain cautious of spontaneous protests that may occur from time to time, even if authorities there had relaxed their curfew. It reminded Filipinos to keep current with local events and to stay away from large gatherings. Glang said Filipinos in Bahrain should remain updated and be aware of their surroundings at all times. “If you encounter a large public gathering or demonstration, please leave the vicinity immediately." — JE, GMA News
