OWWA: Over 100 Pinoys want to leave Yemen

More than 100 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) have expressed their willingness to leave Yemen, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said. OWWA said some 113 signed the registration for the Philippine government’s voluntary repatriation in Yemen. OWWA administrator Carmelita Dimzon said “Registration for the repatriation is now ongoing and as of (May 24) about 113 OFW have registered to be repatriated." On Tuesday, the DFA raised the alert level in Yemen to "3" because of the increasing violence in the area. Under alert level 3, the Philippine government will shoulder the cost of the voluntary repatriation of the OFWs in Yemen. Philippine government records show that there are about 1,420 Filipino workers in Yemen. Dimzon assured the affected OFWs that the Philippine government will provide them with skills training and livelihood assistance once they arrive in the country. - VVP, GMA News
