PHL Embassy repatriates bedridden Pinay in Kuwait

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait repatriated a 61-year old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who has been bedridden after suffering from a stroke. The woman's friend reported to the Philippine Embassy that the Filipina has been in Kuwait for almost 20 years and has been without a valid residence visa for a long time. When she was taken to a hospital after being unable to walk or to move the right side of her body, the woman was told that she had hyperlipidaemia because of a stroke. The Embassy assisted the Filipina in her medical needs and made representations with the Kuwait government for her immediate repatriation. The Filipina, who was escorted by a volunteer nurse on her trip, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via Kuwait Airways. The Embassy paid for her and her nurse’s plane fares. The DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs coordinated with OWWA for the airport assistance of the OFW and for her repatriation to her hometown in Camarines Sur. - VVP, GMA News
