Chiz figures in Quezon City road mishap


A senator sustained slight injuries after figuring in a road accident in the Cubao district in Quezon City Thursday night. Sen. Francis Escudero was injured in the hand when a van bumped his sport-utility vehicle on Maryland Street, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported Friday.
Quezon City police traffic officer PO3 Perlito Datu said Escudero, who was driving the vehicle, even surrendered his driver's license to police. Escudero had no bodyguard or driver with him at the time of the accident around 9 p.m., the report added. Chiz is fine Escudero's chief of staff Atty. Roland Tan, said the senator was fine after the incident. "Fortunately, Senator Escudero did not suffer any injuries and was even able to call us, his staff, to assist the passengers and the driver of the other car," Tan said. He said that the passengers of the other car were rushed to St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City and were given immediate medical attention. "At this time, Senator Escudero is fine and safe and continues to monitor the condition of the passengers from the other vehicle," he said. An initial investigation showed a Kia van driven by one Manuel Meriles bumped the front right portion of Escudero's SUV. Meriles also sustained slight injuries.
