NDRRMC: Floods affect 23k families in Mindanao

More than 23,000 families were affected as floods caused by continuous rains hit Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Davao del Norte over the weekend. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the affected families included 10,083 from Maguindanao; and 10,363 from Lanao del Sur. At least three schools – Nuling Elementary School, Nuling National High School (Barangay Salimbao, Maguindanao); and Sultan Kudarat Islamic Academy in Barangay Bulalo were flooded, it said. Floodwaters remain waist-deep at most of the affected villages in Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao, it added. In Davao del Norte, meanwhile, a flash flood hit Carmen town, affecting 10 villages with 3,190 families or 15,950 people. — LBG, GMA News
