8 hurt in weekend fire in Tawi-Tawi

At least eight people were reported hurt in a fire that hit Bongao town in Tawi-Tawi twice, on Saturday night and before dawn Sunday. The fire was initially put out three hours after it started Saturday night but restarted before dawn Sunday, radio dzBB reported Monday. Several houses, including a large area of the local commercial center and the local market, were damaged in the fire, the report said. An initial investigation showed the fire started at 7 p.m. Saturday and raged for three hours before firefighters put it out. But the fire restarted before dawn Sunday, prompting firefighters to rush back to the scene. Arson investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire. — RSJ, GMA News
