Damage from 'Chedeng' reaches P14.311M - NDRRMC


The damage to property from Typhoon Chedeng (Songda) rose to P14.311 million Monday evening, even as the death toll remained at four, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its 6 p.m. Monday update, the NDRRMC said the P14,311,499 included damage to both agriculture and infrastructure. A breakdown showed the damage to agriculture included P1.422 million in Malaybalay (Bukidnon) and P8.823 million in Davao del Norte. Damage to infrastructure included P5.488 million in Sto. Tomas and Carmen in Davao del Norte. The NDRRMC noted a hanging bridge in Capinonan village in Cabanglasan town in Bukidnon was totally washed out while a steel bridge in Delausan village in Ditsaan Ramain in Lanao del Sur was partially wrecked. The NDRRMC said Chedeng affected 91,736 families or 446,781 people in 515 villages in 52 towns and seven cities in 11 provinces. As of Monday evening, 23 families or 99 people are still staying in evacuation facilities at Lower Bicutan Elementary School and Gawad Kalinga in Taguig City. — RSJ, GMA News
