PHL joins gathering in Mexico for universal brotherhood

The Philippines recently took part in an international gathering in Mexico meant to promote universal brotherhood. Philippine Embassy acting communications officer Eden Borja attended the¨XI Encuentro Internacional de Convivencia y Hermandad Universal" in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato in Mexico from May 20 to 21. At least 15 countries were represented in the event with the theme "Sharing Cultural Richness with the World," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The project, initiated by the Sociedad Civil en Marcha in 2000, aims to unite San Miguel de Allende with the rest of the world through the Encuentro Internacional de Convivencia y Hermandad. The inauguration ceremonies were held at the Teatro Angela Peralta. A parade of the ambassadors and representatives of the participating embassies was also held along the historic route of San Miguel de Allende. The parade ended at the San Francisco Church, where the entourage was treated to a musical concert by the San Luis Potosi Philharmonic Orchestra. There was also a presentation of the book "El Brigadier, Mi Destino: La Independencia de Mexico" by Jorge Zarzosa, which tells the story of the forgotten hero of the Mexican Independence, Pedro Joseph Zarzosa. Queretaro Presidente Municipal of Corregidora Lic Jose Carmen Mendieta Olvera and Department of International Relations Chief Lic. Federico Quinzanos Rojas also hosted the participants on a tour of the historical sites in Queretaro. - VVP, GMA News
