2 LPAs to bring rains to 4 areas in PHL

Two low-pressure areas (LPAs) will bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to at least four parts of the country, state weather forecasters said Thursday. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Ben Oris said forecasters are tracking one of the LPAs to see if it will become a cyclone. "Dalawang LPA ang namataan [pero] sa loob ng 24 oras hindi pa po [magiging bagyo] ang mga ito," Oris said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said that as of 2 a.m., one of the two LPAs was estimated at 330 km northwest of Basco, Batanes. The second LPA was estimated at 700 km east-southeast of Surigao City. Should the second LPA become a cyclone, it will be codenamed "Dodong." Meanwhile, PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the LPAs will bring scattered rains to Extreme Northern Luzon, Palawan, Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao. "Extreme Northern Luzon, Palawan, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. — LBG, GMA News
