PSALM to bid out P9.5-B fuel needs of power plants

Some P9.4 billion worth of fuel requirements for several power plants will be bid out June 17 by the state-run Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM). At least four suppliers are keen on earning the right to provide the power producers’ fuel needs for the second half. PSALM said the suppliers attended the pre-bid conference where they were briefed on the provisions of the bidding process and the fuel requirements. The 650-megawatt Malaya Thermal Power Plant has the largest order of 150,000 kiloliters of industrial fuel oil (IFO) and 150 kiloliters of industrial diesel oil. The smaller IFO needs are for the Davao Power Barge 104 (14,000 kiloliters), Southern Philippines Power Corp. in Sarangani (26,500 kiloliters), and Western Mindanao Power Corp. in Zamboanga (46,500 kiloliters). — ELR/VS, GMA News
