Photo exhibit opened to mark PHL-Russia diplomatic ties
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Russian Embassy opened a photo exhibit to mark the 35th anniversary of both countries’ diplomatic ties. The exhibit was opened last June 2 at the lobby of the DFA office in Pasay City, the department said in a statement issued Saturday. "The photo exhibit consisted of two parts: The first part featured the Russian people, their culture and religion, natural wonders, and Russian ambassadors assigned to the Philippines. The second part showcased photos on the Philippines taken by the Russian Embassy officials during their tour of duty," the DFA said. It said the exhibit will run until June 8. Inaugurating the photo exhibit were DFA Undersecretary for International Economic Relations Antonio Rodriguez, Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Nikolay Kudashev, and Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for European Affairs Leslie Baja. Kudashev said the exhibit not only commemorates the Philippines-Russia official cooperation, but more importantly, symbolizes the enduring friendship between the Russian and Filipino people. Present at the ceremony were former First Lady and now Rep. Imelda Marcos, members of the Diplomatic Corps and Honorary Consular Corps, members of the Philippines-Russia Friendship Society, representatives from cultural institutions, foreign cultural institutes, and members of the media. — JE, GMA News
