Metro Manila cops inspect schools a day before classes begin

On the eve of the start of the new school year, Metro Manila police made the rounds of schools to check the security arrangements there. Metro Manila police director Chief Superintendent Allan Purisima said he expects police deployed to the schools to coordinate with school officials and parents. "Tinitingnan natin ang deployment at nakikipag-ugnayan tayo sa authorities ng iskwelahan para sa preparation at coordination ng iskwelahan at komunidad," Purisima said in an interview on dzBB radio, while inspecting on Sunday the Commonwealth Elementary School in Quezon City. He said that in the case of the Commonwealth Elementary School, which has some 9,000 pupils, security and assistance desks appeared ready. Purisima said they plan to beef up the assistance desks and security details with personnel from the local villages. "At least in this school, I can see there is good coordination between police and local administrators," he said. Purisima also said they will continue inspecting other schools even during the first week of classes. — LBG, GMA News
