1 killed in predawn QC fire

A woman was killed in a predawn fire that hit a stall selling ready-to-wear (RTW) clothing in the Cubao area in Quezon City Monday. The woman, who was not immediately identified, appeared to be a stay-in worker at the store near the ACT Theater in Cubao, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported. Four of her workmates managed to flee from the fire, the report added. Arson investigators are looking into information that a ceiling fan overheated and caught fire, and fell on the clothing items and started the fire. They initially estimated the damage to property at P100,000, even as an adjacent flower shop sustained damage as well. Entries on the Twitter account of fire volunteer group TXTFire showed the fire started at 3:09 a.m. and reached the second alarm before it was confined and placed under control 30 minutes later. — RSJ, GMA News
