Black mushrooms poison farmer, 6 children in Negros

A farmer and his six children were hospitalized last weekend after eating poisonous black mushrooms in Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental. Dionisio Cabu-al, 45, and his children said they had visions of the sun turning green as mushrooms jumping around after eating the poisonous mushrooms on Saturday. Cabual and his children — Diony, 19; Jinky, 14; Charie, 12; Margielyn, 10; Jonas, 5; and Dailyn, 3 — of Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, were suspected of falling ill due to black mushrooms poisoning, the news site Visayan Daily Star reported. According to the Visayan Daily Star, Cabu-al said he harvested the mushrooms with black caps and brownish stems from his farm. After eating the black mushroom soup, Dionisio said he felt dizzy and started having visions of the sun turning green and mushrooms jumping around. "We were getting weaker, so we all lay down and waited for our deaths," Cabu-al said. His wife, who had not eaten the mushrooms, managed to seek help. - VVP, GMA News
