Prison Break, porn DVDs found inside Bilibid cell

Video disks of pornographic films and a television show on how to escape from prison were found inside a cell at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) during the House justice panel’s inspection of the area on Tuesday. Valenzuela Rep. Magtanggol Gunigundo said he saw digital video discs (DVDs) of pornographic films and of the TV show Prison Break in a cubicle inside the NBP maximum security compound in Muntinlupa City. “Nakita namin na may ganitong CD or DVD ‘yung may hawak ng kubol na ‘yun. Baka naiwan kakamadali sa paglinis," he said in a congressional hearing on Tuesday. The lawmaker added that he also found DVD of violent films and a documentary titled The Nazi History inside the prison cell. NBP chief Superintendent Ramon Reyes said inmates are allowed to watch films inside their cells for “recreation" purposes, but pornographic and violent movies are strictly prohibited. “Bago po makapasok, iniinspect po iyan. Hindi po pinapayagan ang violent films, films that encourage escape, pati po samurai films," he said. The prison official also assured the lawmakers that he will launch an investigation on the matter. Reyes, in the same hearing, admitted the unequal treatment of prisoners in the national penitentiary based on wealth. Lawmakers also found “hotel-like" cubicles of convicted Chinese drug lords with tiles and an adjacent playground inside the NBP maximum security compound. The House committee also decided to visit other prison facilities and conduct similar ocular inspections in the following hearings. — JE, GMA News
