Floods hit 12 villages in North Cotabato town

Floods caused by heavy rains hit at least 12 villages in M'lang town in North Cotabato province in Mindanao early Friday. The floods forced the suspension of classes in at least three public schools in the town, according to a report on dzBB radio. Residents in the affected areas were forced to leave their homes, as floods in some villages such as Buayan reached the roofs of houses.

In other villages, the floods reached parts of the national highway. Motorcycles and light vehicles could not cross many of the flooded roads, the report added. Earlier, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said an inter-tropical convergence zone may bring rains to parts of Mindanao. — RSJ, GMA News
