Report: 110 more Pinoys in KSA leave for Manila

At least 110 more Filipinos sheltered at the Haj seaport terminal in Saudi Arabia are now on their way home to the Philippines, a Saudi-based Philippine labor official said. According to a report of Arab News, Philippine Labor Attache Vicente Cabe of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) said the 110 left for the Philippines on Thursday aboard two flights. Cabe said this brought to 350 the number of repatriated Filipinos “out of 790 who had registered (recently) for repatriation," Arab News reported on Friday. Cabe said the 110 Filipinos included those who had absconded from their employers as well as those accused of nonviolent crimes such as theft and immorality. The Arab News report said the 350 remaining Filipinos are waiting for clearance from Saudi immigration authorities so they can travel. “We will then issue their tickets," said Cabe. Cabe said the tickets were provided both by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Those who want to be included in the amnesty program just have to register themselves with the POLO in Jeddah. - VVP, GMA News
