Weather: PAGASA tracks potential cyclone off Mindanao

Hours after tropical storm "Dodong" (Sarika) left the country's territory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is tracking a new weather disturbance east of Mindanao. While PAGASA did not immediately assess the chances of the low-pressure area becoming another cyclone, it said the LPA may bring flash floods and landslides to Eastern Mindanao. "Mindanao and the Western sections of Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. As of 2 p.m., PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 800 km east of Southern Mindanao as of 2 p.m., embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao. PAGASA said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
