Weather: Rainy Independence Day for EVisayas, Mindanao

Residents of Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao may have to brace for rains on Independence Day due to a low-pressure area embedded in an inter-tropical convergence zone, state weather forecasters said late Friday. In its special weather outlook for Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ will affect most parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "This weather system will bring rain showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao due to the expected approach of Low Pressure Area embedded along the ITCZ," PAGASA said. But Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can expect good weather "with warm and humid condition," although there may be isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening, PAGASA added. "Good weather associated with warm and humid condition will prevail over the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila aside from isolated rain showers and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. PAGASA said it will update this outlook should significant changes in the weather occur. Those seeking more information can contact the forecaster-on-duty of the Weather Division at telephone number: 927-1335 or log on to www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph, PAGASA said. -- LBG, GMA News
