Aquino likely to offer SONA previews on Independence Day

President Benigno Aquino III may offer previews of his second State of the Nation Address on at least three occasions this month, Malacañang said Saturday. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said it is possible the President will drop hints about his SONA starting this Sunday, Independence Day. “Expect to see kaunting patikim sa talumpati ni Pangulong Aquino leading to the SONA," she said on government-run dzRB radio. Valte said Aquino is slated to attend the Independence Day this Sunday, the 150th birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19, and his first anniversary in office on June 30. But this early, she said the public can expect some references to Aquino’s first SONA, “essentially kung nasaan na tayo [mula sa] nakaraang taon." Aquino is to deliver his second SONA on July 25, before a joint session of Congress. Under the 1987 Constitution, Congress is to convene on the fourth Monday of July. — JE, GMA News
