3 kids missing as tricycle falls into Isabela river

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela - Three minors were reported missing after the tricycle they were riding fell off an overflow bridge over Pinacanauan River in this city Saturday, police said. Three people, including the tricycle driver, were rescued by volunteers, according to Superintendent Amorsolo dela Cruz, chief of Cauayan Police. Still missing as of Sunday afternoon were Precious May Pastor, 4; Sheila Marie Tacloban, 9; and Aldrin Jake Gammad, 2, all of Mabantad village in this city. Rescued meanwhile were Richard Calimag, Judima Galvan and Tomas Marcos, driver of the ill-fated tricycle (4430 KZ), which was recovered early Sunday. Dela Cruz said the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Barangay Alicaocao in this city. Rescuers on Sunday morning used a backhoe to clear the debris at the bridge, causing a two-hour traffic jam for passing motorists. Relatives of the victims said they are hoping that the three children would be found alive. Marcos has been placed under the custody of the police while the search-and-rescue was ongoing. — Joel Nueva/KBK, GMA News
