Weather: Low pressure area moving away from PHL

A low-pressure area (LPA) that brought rains to parts of the country during the weekend is moving out of Philippine territory and heading for the West Philippine (South China) Sea. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was 110 kilometers southeast of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan as of 2:00 a.m. "Lumayo na po, dito papuntang West Philippine Sea. Wala pa pinapakita na siya ay magiging bagyo," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. PAGASA's 5:00 a.m. bulletin said the LPA is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao. PAGASA said Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds blowing from the East to Southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the West to Southeast with slight to moderate seas. - VVP, GMA News
