Three killed as giant palm tree falls on houses in Cebu

At least three people were crushed to death after a giant palm tree fell on their houses in a residential area in Mandaue City in Cebu province on Monday. Two of the three victims were sleeping at the time when the incident occurred early Monday, according to a report on dzBB radio's Cebu affiliate. The report identified the fatalities as Romeo Dimpas, 44, and Charita Dimpas, 45, from one house; and Richard Gerubias, 27, from the next house.
