Actor-director Ricky Rivero stabbed in QC, rushed to hospital


An actor-director was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed in his own apartment in Quezon City before dawn on Monday. The police said Ricardo Rivero, 39, was brought to the Philippine Heart Center after sustaining at least six stab wounds, radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported. The Quezon City police also arrested the suspect, Ivan Ruiz, who was staying in Reyes’ house in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District PO3 Antonio Torrente said the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m., after the victim and the suspect had an argument. Torrente quoted the victim as saying that he thought he and Ruiz had settled their differences, but he woke up to see the suspect stabbing him. Rivero managed to run and call for help but Ruiz reportedly went after him. Bystanders brought the victim to the hospital. Facebook friends A separate report on the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) said Rivero and Ruiz met each other on Facebook. The PEP report said Rivero and Ruiz had an argument early Monday as the suspect was allegedly asking the victim for money. The PEP.ph report said the suspect fled with the victim's laptop computer but returned to the scene to clean up the evidence. Village watchmen caught up with Ruiz while he was trying to help the injured director. The PEP report said Rivero started his acting career in 1986 in the film "Ninja Kids," and appeared in the youth-oriented show "That's Entertainment."
