Clarificatory statement by SC Justice Sereno

The Office of Associate Justice Maria Lourdes P. A. Sereno sent GMA News the following statement: PRESS STATEMENT This is to categorically deny the claims of two paragraphs appearing in the article entitled "Palace rebuffs GMA on Carpio-Morales," which was published in the electronic version of the Philippine Star on 10 June 2011 and attributed to Delon Porcalla with Marvin Sy and Edu Punay. I accessed the article on 10 June 2011 at 12:30 am at http://www. philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=694705&publicationSubCategoryId=63. The article claims that I have seen problems with Justice Conchita Carpio Morales's writings and that I expressed the belief she could be liable for plagiarism in her ponencia in the GRP-MILF Supreme Court decision. This is completely untrue. I have not made any statement, privately or publicly, criticizing Justice Conchita Caprio Morales for the way she has written any of her ponencias or opinions. In all my professional dealings with Justice Conchita Carpio Morales, she has demonstrated utmost honesty, dedication and a high sense of public accountability.
