Burglars break into Comelec office in Bacolod


Burglars broke into the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Bacolod City in the Visayas over the weekend, taking computer equipment from the premises. However, police suspect that the incident was an "inside job" because there was no sign of forced entry, according to a report of the news site Visayan Daily Star on Monday. The report quoted City Police Station 2 chief Senior Inspector Lester Leada as saying the the suspects could have entered the office through the main door. Utility personnel Zaldy Mabunyog, 44, discovered the break-in when he opened the office at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Leada said a witness saw two men loading items into a tricycle. The police are now analyzing fingerprints lifted from the crime scene to help identify the suspects. Among the missing items were a 14-inch television set, a computer central processing unit, LCD screen, keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, and uninterruptible power supply. - VVP, GMA News
